Die Cast Machinery, LLC is a machinery dealer specializing in used Tymac shot monitoring systems. Tymac shot monitoring and injection control systems are used in the high pressure die casting processes including the cold chamber aluminum, magnesium and brass processes as well as the hot chamber zinc and magnesium processes. In die cast processes monitoring the speed (velocity) of the injection plunger and the distance traveled are monitored and graphed on a screen. Additionally the hydraulic pressures of the injection system is also tracked and displayed on the same screen. The end result shows the injection profile for a particular single injection. This is called the injection profile. On the graph time, distance, and pressures are displayed. When a new die (part number) is put into a die casting machine, the first run parts are made and adjustments are made to the injection system until the optimum part is achieved. That optimum part will have a unique injection profile. This profile data is saved and used the next time the die is run. In the real time process control the system not only collects the data but also controls the hydraulic valves that control speed, distance and pressure. With this technique the operator can enter desired variables for distance, speed and pressures and the machine will automatically adjust to the desired points (if within the capability of the machine) and first good parts can be realized quicker. Additionally, the die casting machine will “self-adjust” during production runs. Self- adjusting is necessary as hydraulic fluids heat up (become thinner) which has the tendency to increase shot velocity for a given valve setting (valve opening). Also variables such as plunger tip wear, gooseneck or shot sleeve (shot well) wear, small variations of metal temperature and die temperature all affect injection speeds and metal pressures. With real-time shot control these variables are automatically compensated for during the injection process.
