Used Cold Chamber and Hot Chamber Magnesium Die Casting Machines

The major manufacturers of die casting machines for magnesium die casting include: Frech, Buhler, Italpresse, Idra, Prince, Toshiba and Ube. The cold chamber magnesium die casting presses generally require a much faster injection rate (speed measured in inches per second or meters per second) than the other cold chamber processes. Speeds may exceed 300 inches per second on the fast shot phase of the injection. In Hot Chamber Magnesium Die Casting the injection unit is designed for both greater speeds and greater final metal pressures than with standard zinc/Zamak die casting process. Injection control, especially in the hot chamber magnesium process is very critical. The nature of hot chamber die casting is to have a very short injection stroke, so in a very short distance (and time) you must control four phases (slow, intermediate, fast and squeeze) of injection.

FAQ What are the major benefits of magnesium die casting process?

Some of the advantages of using the magnesium die casting process includes higher material strengths and superior thermal conductivity than that with plastics molded components. Developing opportunities in the electrical and electronics industries due to the good thermal conductivity and electromagnetic shielding characteristics of the metal. Excellent flow characteristics of the liquid material enables components to be cast with very thin cross sections and with higher complexity than with aluminum die casting. Magnesium reserves are all very plentiful and the products made form magnesium are very easy to recycle. High-purity magnesium alloys are corrosion resistant. Because of the high strength to weight ration a weight reduction of up to 30% is possible when compared to aluminum.
